Q: Do you guarantee your work?
A: It is not possible for any dental prosthetist to guarantee a result. Each denture is a one off product with many factors influencing the degree of success achieved. One of the biggest factors influencing the success or otherwise with dentures rests with the patient. It is most important that a team approach is maintained when constructing new dentures. This involves trust and co-operation between the patient and prosthetist. Quality of materials and workmanship will also have an influence on the success of the dentures. Do not be afraid to discuss your needs or fears with your practitioner as this may influence the finished product.
Q: How often should I clean my dentures?
A: You should clean your dentures twice a day or as necessary and be sure to brush the gums.
Q: Do I ever have to take my dentures out?
A: If they are well fitting you shouldn’t have to except for cleaning however, people prefer to take them out whilst they sleep.
Q: Do I have to have my dentures serviced or adjusted?
A: Yes, the mouth changes, the dentures will wear to some degree and should be adjusted and serviced.
Q: How long to dentures last?
A: Dentures can last a while when made from quality materials. It is difficult to determine this; it depends on the lifestyle of the person, the wear and tear on the dentures and how much the person's mouth changes.
Q: Are all dentures the same?
A: No, no dentures are the same. It is the key reason as to why we request a call to discuss your personal requirements.
Q: Do I need to have my dentures cleaned by a prosthetist?
A: Not necessarily, you can clean them at home or if you prefer you can take them to a prosthetist to be polished and cleaned. If having problems keeping dentures clean consult a dental prosthetist.
Q: Will my dentures stay clean?
A: No, dentures can be stained just like natural teeth. It is important to keep them as clean as you possibly can. This may be a problem for some patients, ask your prosthetist for advice.
